The fraudsters expertly overlaid actual clips of Musk from unique interviews to create a smooth flow that misled viewers into believing they were watching a live broadcast by Musk himself. As a result, many unsuspecting contributors were convinced that the investment opportunity was valid.

Impersonators have employed sophisticated tactics along with using social media to spread the scam. They hijacked high-traffic hashtags and hired bots to circulate hyperlinks on structures like Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube, reaching a wider target market. Once customers clicked on these hyperlinks, they were redirected to professionally designed websites that mimicked the style and branding of legitimate funding platforms, including the illusion of authenticity.
